The conference brings together refugee leaders, social service providers, mental health clinicians, students, and refugee advocates from across the world. This year, our theme is Cross Cultural Resiliency: Inspiring Generations through Hope & Healing. The conference will feature keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and opportunities for networking throughout the day. Hear directly from community leaders and experts in a variety of fields, network with others passionate about serving refugees, and learn new tools and strategies to take back to your community. “We want to invite you to hear stories of courage and weakness, perseverance and helplessness, post traumatic growth and failures, lessons learned by refugees who have been in the USA for generations,” said Sophia Banu, MD, Director, Clinic for International Trauma Survivors, Psychiatry Director The Alliance Wellness Center, Co-Director Global Mental Health Division, Baylor College of Medicine, Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Ben Taub Hospital / Harris Health System and Co-Chair of The Alliance Refugee Mental Health & Wellness Conference.
