Description
In honor of our Ohana family member, Amy Sison, and her daughter Maddie, we proudly present Battle of St. Baldrick's! Battle of St. Baldrick's is on Saturday, March 25 from 8-9am. This is a family friendly community workout for all fitness levels. There is a minium $10/person donation to participate in the workout. Our goal is to raise $500 to donate to St. Baldricks from the Ohana Fitness family. Our fundraising efforts will be dontated on Saturday, April 1st at the Texas Children's Cancer Center with Baylor/UT Health. You join us and find out more about the April 1st event here: https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/9837/2017 In addition, the top 4 donors will choose an Ohana Coaching staff member to get a pie in the face! Bring your check book! St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding childhood cancer research. In fact, they fund more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government—including Amy's husband's (Allan) leukemia research when he was a fellow at Johns Hopkins. A message from Amy: "Pediatric cancer is a cause near and dear to my heart. Allan and I have been volunteering for St. B’s over the last 6 years and our son is even named after an incredibly special kid who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2004 at the age of 13. Then, last May, our worst nightmare came true when our daughter, Madeleine, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She is one of the lucky ones—she’s doing great now! Unfortunately, not all kids are that lucky. Having this firsthand experience with the fear, worry, and anxiety that comes along with a cancer diagnosis just intensifies our desire to do whatever we can to help advance the valuable research that people like Allan do improve outcomes for kids with cancer. I’ve started an Ohana Fitness team for anyone who’d like to join the cause. Using the link below, you can sign up to get your head shaved on April 1st, volunteer, or donate. https://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/110708/2017 Being a part of this Ohana has been a great stress reliever for me at a time when I needed it most, and I’m very grateful for all of the camaraderie and encouragement—can’t find a better group of people anywhere!"
